King Kong returns to the big screen for another giant monster fighting fiesta. On the surface it seems like just another reboot of an established character. However, there is just too much awesomeness packed in the two hour runtime. There are dinosaurs, rough action heroes, crazy jungle people and of course a 300ft. gorilla.
The acting is palatable but rarely impressive, but for such a blockbuster there is rarely any acting involved. The camera tends to focus on chiseled muscles, big artillery and massively oversized animas relentlessly brawling in a radioactive jungle. Kong: Skull island is honestly just as good as the next blockbuster and has nothing that stands out. The only saving grace is that it is not part of a franchise… yet.
